Description

CAP has been providing services to the most economically disadvantaged populations of Lancaster County for more than 50 years.
Working during a unique era in American history when the nation was awakened to the reality of poverty in the midst of the richest and most powerful nation in the world, Lancaster community leaders who founded CAP were part of a larger national consensus that held that:
1) poverty was unacceptable
2) it could and should be eradicated.
CAP's founders had a desire to move beyond providing assistance to developing a community-based approach to help low-income families become self-sufficient.
CAP services continue to evolve to meet the community needs through programs that support child development and education, health and nutrition, household stability, violence prevention and empowerment.
Today CAP is one of the largest community benefit organizations in Lancaster County.
