Mission Statement

" Our mission as affirmed in Luke 4:18 and Matthew 25:35-40 is to reach out to the homeless and the working poor by sharing the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ and providing food, shelter, clothing, employment, medical care, spiritual counseling, and community supportive services to them."

Description

In 1953, Good Samaritan Rescue Mission began as a little house church with only eight beds and a soup kitchen.
That was the birth of a ministry that God intended to use to help literally hundreds of thousands of homeless men and women to find the Lord and to find themselves again.
Now, as they celebrate 64 years of continual ministry and service to the homeless, they have grown to 213 beds and their little soup kitchen has served over two million meals.
For people who are homeless, the bottom has dropped out of their world, and they are left with just memories of better days.
Many suffer with depression, confusion, bitterness, and fear for their future.
Good Sam exists for so much more than food and shelter.
They want to help them get their life back ~ or begin a new one with a fresh start.
They want to help them become independent and stable ~ and REMAIN stable, which takes far more effort than running them through on a conveyor belt of various programs.

I'm enquiring about a place my brother can finally get the much needed help my family has been praying for. I would love to talk to someone concerning him. His name is Dennis, and he is a born again believer. Dennis has made many bad choices in his life which have brought him to the place of being homeless. Three different times over the past 15 years or so he has lived with my husband and me. Dennis does well for a period of time, but hasn't ever gotten the mental health treatment he desperately needs. We've all tried to make him see that with an evaluation he can get the counseling and diagnosis needed as well as the treatment needed so he can find freedom and live the abundant life Jesus wants him to have. Dennis has a lot of good qualities and caring about others is one of them. He needs some help that we are not able to give him. He will most likely be coming to Corpus Christi in the next week or so, and will need a place to stay. I feel that your shelter would be just the place where Dennis can find healing and can find direction to begin again. I'd love to talk to someone about an opportunity for Dennis. God bless you and this wonderful ministry . My other brother, my mother, and I are all praying for Dennis and have for many years. We are trusting in God's promise in Romans 8:28! In Christ, Sonya
