St. Lucy's Emergency Shelter is a supervised 24-hour, 7-day-a-week, year-round emergency shelter facility for single women and men offering emergency housing and food for those in need.
Within the first week, clients meet with staff to assess their current situation. Once their needs are determined, clients are referred to one or more of the following services: welfare, SSI, unemployment, job training and job search, education and mental-health/addiction-treatment programs.
The shelter provides two meals a day, clothing as well as a shower program and outreach services for the unsheltered homeless.
"Catholic Charities of Newark It is the mission of Catholic Charities to improve the quality of people’s lives and enhance their self-worth and dignity by providing superior social service, behavioral health, and education programs, and by advocating for justice in all human relationships. "
